On November 18th, 2011, Martin Briley and his band performed at “The Bitter End”, an intimate nightclub in New York’s Greenwich Village. One of the songs on his set list for that night included “Invisible” which was written and produced by himself and friend Chris Pelcer around 1999. The song wasn’t released until 2006 on his 2nd studio album, “It Comes in Waves”. During this time, while in production for The Barbie™ Diaries movie, Mattel asked Briley if they could use this song, “Feels Like Love”, “Real Life”, and “Note to Self” which were all penned by Briley and a slew of other writers and producers. All of these songs ended up making their way onto the movie’s soundtrack. On his website, Chris stated “Mattel picked these already-written songs for the movie, strange because ‘Invisible’ refers to the Columbine high school shooting. Kesha sang the vocal on the demo." Although Chris was surprised to have worked with Mattel for a Barbie movie featuring his music, we wouldn’t have received these songs without his musical talent.
