Marlin Spike Hitch Rope Ladder - How to Make a Simple Rope Ladder 🛠
The Marlin Spike Hitch also known as the Marlingspike Hitch, Boat Hitch. I personally love the Marlin Spike Hitch as this knot is so versatile. In this video I show three ways of tying the Marlin Spike Hitch. The first way, is the traditional way using a Marline Spike. The second way involves wrapping the rope around the rung of the rope ladder first, then tying the Marlin Spike Hitch onto the wooden rung of the rope ladder. The final way I show the folded method of tying the Marlin Spike Hitch, then once tied the wooden rung is passed through the open knot and then tightened.
WARNING! The Marlin Spike has excellent holding qualities, but only whilst there is tension on the knot itself. If the rope ladder is allowed to swing in the breeze for any period of time, one or more of the rungs could slip loose. Therefore, it is always advisable to check the security of the rope ladder prior to being used!
