I started listening to Jimi way back in the 1970's and like everyone else in the universe, we were frozen in awe....Band Of Gypsies was the record that blew my mind! Yet, Purple Haze is such an interesting composition. It starts with the infamous tri-tone E and Bb. It is a flat 5 interval, for which is known to us music history buffs, as the "devils" interval! Outlawed and you were imprisoned if as a composer, you incorporated this deviant interval!...And Guess what! That beautiful interval became the back bone of Rock and Blues!
