On the retro hour podcast, Mark Subotnick claimed that Yuji Naka shut down the development of Geist Force for the Sega Dreamcast in order to steal the game engine for a new 3D sonic game. Other versions of the story, however, report that the game was woefully behind schedule and had to be shelved by SEGA due to the project’s lack of productivity.
