Animal Welfare is a growing trend for socially responsible investing. As of July, 30 the Global Investor Collaboration on Farm Animal Welfare had 30 participants representing £2.3 trillion in assets under management. However, some financial institutions lag in this area; at least six top global pension funds have holdings in potentially cruel companies.
For a clear picture of the current landscape in the food industry, Corporate Knights has analyzed the worlds largest fast food companies animal welfare performance. In collaboration with Humane Society International Canada and a panel of finance, advocacy, and industry experts (including representation from Shake Shack), we discuss our research and how corporations and investors can serve in improving food industry animal welfare.
