In this episode we will begin to look at the evidence for Markan authorship as well as the traditional view that Mark wrote for the benefit of Roman Christians on the basis of Peter's preaching and teaching. The focus in this episode is on the external evidence we have from Irenaeus in the 2nd century to Athanasius in the 4th century. In the next show I will look at the evidence that comes from before the time of Irenaeus all the way back to Papias in the 1st century.
