KTRMAmbiance | Mario Kart DS Pre-alpha Replica: E3 2004 style character models @ktrmambiance1627 | Uploaded December 2018 | Updated October 2024, 2 hours ago.
If you look closely at the E3 2004 screenshots and videos of MKDS, you can see that the characters' models were their low-poly models from Mario Kart Double Dash (internally named "driver200.bmd" is the mentioned low-poly one, while the "driver.bmd" is the high-poly one), and they had (mostly minor) differences compared to the final models, so I took the low-poly models of the characters there and modified them to work with MKDS. But since they're not animated (yet), I use them in-game only as CPU models. The current player model still uses the stock model, but with the textures from the MKDD models.
