Extra is the only thing in Mario Kart 64 that isn't accessible right away. The funny part is that unlocking is super fast and easy. All the player has to do is beat Special Cup on 150cc! XD
Anyways, Extra marks the introduction of Mirror mode, which appeared in every future installment (with the exception of Super Circuit) since! ^v^
