Marines Have Fun Neutralizing Munitions.
Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, January 8, 2020: Marines with Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Installations Pacific – Marine Corps Base Camp Smedley D. Butler, conduct a precision Standoff Munition Disruption (SMUD) training range. SMUD is a technique used by EOD technicians where they utilize a service weapon to disrupt and neutralize munition from a standoff distance in order to achieve a low-order detonation.
