During the Nouvelle Vague the Romanian immigrant Marin Karmitz worked as an assistant director for Jean-Luc Godard and Agnès Varda in France and started to shoot his own films as a director in the sixties. He finally concentrated fully on working as a producer and distributor. Today Marin Karmitz has produced 90 films, distributed more than 300 feature and documentary films and is the owner of ten cinemas in Paris. However he wouldn't call himself a collector.
