Book review of Marilynne Robinson's first novel Housekeeping. This book was published in 1980 and concerns the inherited sense of loss across three generations of a predominantly female family. Robinson went on to publish other well-received novels in the 2000's and beyond -- Gilead, Home, and Lila.
