Margaret Ruthven Lang lived from 1867-1972. Her orchestral works were the first by an American female composer to be performed by major orchestras in the U.S. She ended her composing career in 1919 after amassing around 200 songs, several works for piano as well other compositions.
The three pieces here demonstrate her own accomplishments and proficiency on the instrument.
