I'm donating any profits from this video to Prevent Child Abuse America which is a really great charity with high transparency that I really recommend supporting. One thing I've been thinking about a lot over the past month is all the ramifications of this experience, and I'm particularly worried about victims of child abuse that are now forced to stay home with abusive relatives.
I don't know how often I'll be making videos through all of this, but I will try to be here as often as I can, and hopefully share some things that are helpful or temporarily joy-inducing. I am working hard over at Salt and fulfilling our orders safely while caring for Spider-Man is my priority. I love you all so much!
I got the playdough recipe from a friend, should Caspian and I make a video showing how to do it?
-1 cup water
-2 tbsp vegetable oil
-1 cup all-purpose flour
-1/4 cup salt
-2 tbsp cream of tartar
-food coloring
Mix the dry ingredients in a medium saucepan, then add the water and oil. I like to add the food coloring while mixing to smooth out the lumps in the pan, so that I can kill two birds with one stone (horrible phrase?)
Once the food coloring is mixed and the lumps are gone, turn the stove to medium heat and mix continually, taking care to scrape from the sides and bottom of the pan as you go. It will get lumpy and look crazy and then all of a sudden it will start to pull from the sides and bottom and ball up. I've noticed if you keep it in the pan for too long once that starts to happen the playdough doesn't feel as nice, so I like to remove it pretty quickly once it starts to become a glob in the center of the pan.
Let it cool and then mush it out with a rolling pin and store it in a ziploc baggy or other, similarly airtight-ish container.
