Factor for cancer diagnosis, yet its impacts on survivors’ long-term health remain largely uncharted. Dr. Ou will share findings from her research about the impacts of air pollution on health outcomes among early-onset cancer survivors, who are diagnosed with cancer before age 50. Drawing on population-based epidemiologic studies and new primary data collection efforts, including work connected to the 2025 Southern California wildfires, this presentation highlights why understanding environmental exposures is important for improving life after cancer diagnosis. As early-onset cancer rates are rising globally and air pollution is worsening in many regions due to escalating wildfire activity, these questions have international relevance.
