I watched this movie for the first time last week and I saw again this weekend, is something I never do, I can’t watch the same movie twice in a short period of time but because the ambiguity and the openings for various interpretations, I had to watch it again to try to organize my thoughts, FF makes you question everything and that’s what the best movies do, they deliver enough for the audience to empathize with the characters, understand what drives them but leaves holes for the public to fill in the gaps with our own experiences, feelings, values, reason, or not, accept that things are as they are and move on for the next movie. But this movie is that I was constantly thinking in past few days and FF is a movie with focus on the present, so we need to assume a lot and it's driving me crazy.
I know one of the biggest debate of this movie is about Marc’s sexuality, if he’s gay or bisexual, I joined the team of people who believe he’s Kaysexual.
Marc used to feel attracted for his girlfriend and he genuinely loved her, but he met Kay, which they shared an intense and deep connection, something he had never felt before with anyone, and their encounter exploded all his senses, that’s why he was so confused and everyone started to question his sexuality, then Marc himself began to question it, but at the end of the movie when Marc tries to revive the sexual experience he had with Kay at the night club with another man and he couldn’t, it’s maybe showing that he will never have a physical attraction to another man, but he will never love a woman the way he loved Kay.
He felt drawn to this man, he loved this man and only him. Maybe if we have a sequence is more likely that Marc is in a relationship with a woman than with a man and that's the beauty of this movie, love and attraction breaks any barrier, labels, sexuality or categorization, and even though their stories started wrong, mess and complicated, it’s special and unique.
