In this video we interview L. E. Alley III and his wife Nancy from the Alley Agate Marbles Company family. Larry is the grandson of Lawrence Everett Alley Sr., who was a glass maker and the owner of the storied Alley Agate Marbles Company of West Virginia 1929-1949.
This content was filmed at the 42nd Annual Northeast / Nutmeg Marble Show In Meriden Conn. on Oct. 9 2022.
Larry and Nancy chat candidly, and show us an example of the company’s salesman sample case circa 1932. We look at several Alley marbles, and glass figurine products from the factory.
We discuss a bit of the factory and family history as Larry recalls from memory, going back some 75 years ago! Larry presents the Alley Marbles books he has published in the past several years. Joining us is Dick Belmont with a couple of Alley “Chalky” examples.
