TLDR: Marathon! Steam! Workshop Support! If you deign to call yourself a fan of classic FPS, then go get it or I'll have a S'pht compiler hover over you while you sleep:

It's multiplayer night and Treellama's hosting! Let's congratulate him on getting the last bit of the Aleph One project onto Steam and show our thanks by launching his remains to the far corners of the map with the SPNKR. A few dozen times over the course of an hour ought to do the trick.

The third and final offering for the humble macintosh's primer FPS series, Marathon Infinity is a trip and a half. Bonkers storyline aside, the other showstopping feature was the inclusion of Bungie's mapping and editing tools, Forge and Anvil. This opened up the floodgates for all sorts of player crafted nonsense and makes Marathon Infinity the go-to option for multiplayer games. There're even full-blown conversion mods like Apotheosis X, Istoria, Phoenix, and a form of Pathways into Darkness. The new steam workshop support makes getting everything easier than ever.

I'm pretty sure all the maps we played are custom made. They sure do drop the power weapons like candy so expect to be up to your eyeballs in SPNKRs and WSTE-Ms. The Multiplayer system for Aleph One is very retro. Kinda like the old Microsoft Zone rooms only with the addition of dedicated servers.

If you really want to know how the editor looked back in the day, here's a playlist of the Forge tutorial videos that was on the Marathon Infinity CD. It's quite the time capsule:

(Yes, this video is why I've always pronounced it "Dur-ran-dal" and not "Dur-en-dall)
