Who doesn't love watching a majestic loon on a pristine Minnesota lake? To keep that quintessential wildlife sighting possible, loons need clean water and safe shorelines for nesting. The Minnesota Loon Restoration Project is celebrating an achievement set to make a big impact for loons: the permanent protection of seven miles of critical loon breeding habitat spread across six acquisitions in north central Minnesota. This work has been a team effort with our federal colleagues at the U.S. Geological Survey and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, our DNR colleagues in Fish and Wildlife and Lands and Minerals, and the Minnesota Land Trust and Northern Waters Land Trust.
