Types of Android OS Updates
· Google release various types of updates to Android. The updates can be categorised as Major
updates and Security updates.
. Major Updates: These are typically released annually and contain UI changes, System
improvements, and performance improvements.
. Security Updates: These are released monthly or quarterly and have bug fixes, security
patches and minor enhancements to system performance.
. Google Play System updates: These updates contain updates to Android OS components
without updating the OS, which are delivered directly by Google.

Why Manage Updates
· Usually, the updates contain security patches that help to protect the corporate data
· Improves User experience, and new features were added
. The Android OS is fragmented, as there are many OEMS and users delay the updates or ignore the device updates
· Keeping all the corporate devices with the same Android version
. Intune uses Android Management APIS and provides granular level control of managing the Android OS
. Intune supports Android OS updates for Corporate devices that are enrolled as COBO, COPE, or COSU. BYOD device updates cannot be managed as these are personal devices.
