A man who pointed a rifle at police officers and nearby citizens is dead following an officer-involved shooting, according to the Asheville Police Department.

News 13 originally reported that Asheville police were responding to an area in North Asheville for a reported barricaded subject on Tuesday, Aug. 27. Police were centered around the intersection of Chatham Road and Laurel Avenue.
