The man accused of stabbing and strangling a man to death at the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis was in court Friday.

Officers responded to a report of a disturbance at the Indiana Convention Center shortly before 6:30 p.m. Sept. 11. As an officer neared the location, he was flagged down by people at Illinois and South streets, south of the convention center. Those people pointed the officer to a 33-year-old man who they said had stabbed someone in the convention center.

Another officer who was in the area responded to the convention center and found a victim in a second floor hallway. That person, also a man, was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The Marion County Coroner's Office identified the deceased as 58-year-old Alan Ray Gosnell.
