WARNING: Annoying sounds!
Back in 2009, MAME developer Phil Bennett wrote a driver for the Fairlight CMI IIx for MESS, which was at the time MAME's sister project focusing on non-coin-op platforms.
He never got around to updating the driver to modern APIs, so with MAME and MESS merging together a few years back, I decided to take on the challenge, and make some improvements along the way.
Currently, only revision 19 of the system software boots, and there are significant audio issues, but it nevertheless runs fairly decently.
In approximate order of difficulty, the following is a list of things still yet to be implemented:
- Envelopes
- Volume control
- Correct pitch tuning
- SMIDI card
- Filters
- AIC card
