The entire time Iāve been making this remasterā¦. I kept thinking, āWhy is this place called Mallow Castle?ā āMarshmallows??ā¦ā And then it hit meā¦. All of the level names are based on foods. āPeanutā Plains, āMallowā Castle, like Marshmallows, āCocoaā Cave, and āCandyā Mountainā¦. I cannot believe itās taken me this long to realize this HAHAHAHA.
BUT ANYWAYS! Im so excited to share this remaster with you all! I know Iāve got quite a few Kirby fans in here so I really hope you guys enjoy this HONESTLY underrated song. Very underratedā¦.
I had actually wanted to remaster this song about 2 years ago. Maybe 3. But I was working on one remaster of it because I really love how this level presented itself in Kirby Super Star Ultra. It feels like an abandoned castle, once ruled by a very wealthy Kingā¦ the out of tune trumpets play faded melodyās of a triumphant and royal past. Then it goes into these chimes that could be seen as melancholic and nostalgic for what this castle used to be. And now, delinquent enemies and wizards search for the treasure and riches this King left behind. All around just a beautiful place and Iāve always adored it. Thatās why when I was first remastering it, I went for a more orchestral style. But ended up scrapping it. And then a year and a half later I attempted AGAIN, and I went more into an 80s style. It had a lot of keyboards synths and drums, and some iconic 80s instruments. But overall, still wasnāt hitting the mark for me. So I scrapped that too. Then FINALLY, I started working on this one a few months ago. Started small, then over time Iād come back to it and tweak a few things here and there. And now here we are! I was very inspired by 70s funk and pop music, especially within the brass, percussion, bass, and guitar thrown in there. My favorite part of the song has to be the part with the music box/chimes/bells. Gosh Iāve ALWAYS loved that part so much. So I wanted to make sure I got it right and made it something more important to the song structure than what it is in the original. Iām happy with how it turned out!
