The Madlanga Commission kept delivering this week. WhatsApp messages from Feroz Khan's seized phone allege Julius Malema was connected to a plot to trap the Inspector General of Intelligence into a lie, sought the home address of a VBS investigator through Khan via tobacco smuggler Mohammed Sayed, and received information about a government tender. Malema filed an affidavit denying wrongdoing but did not address several specific allegations. Then the commission turned to IDAC head Andrea Johnson, the woman whose job is to fight corruption, after a retired Hawks colonel testified she allegedly shared confidential criminal docket contents with Feroz Khan in 2018 before he submitted his own warning statement, effectively allowing the suspect to tailor his defence to the evidence against him. She testifies today. And finally a South African woman from Brakpan was arrested at Abuja airport with 5.75 kilograms of heroin, tied to a Cambodia-South Africa drug syndicate, giving Nigeria's social media the most ironic moment in the two countries' complicated relationship in years.
