Bad Language Warning!
This is a reenactment of an actual exchange that happened with an angry customer just last week. This very angry, uncaffeinated, older man verbally assaulted a housekeeper because the coffee machine was down. The employee in question is NOT a customer service professional and has a really obvious anxiety disorder.
In the name of being honest I should probably mention that I definitely hammed up both of the employee reactions quite a bit. Unsurprisingly, I'm not that good at playing an angry asshole so that part is actually down played quite a bit from the real incident. But, this is meant as an entertainment piece so I feel like actually recreating the guy's tantrum word for word with a realistic tone would just be uncomfortable for everyone. That said, it still feels rough. I may go back and censor some of those F-bombs.
I work at a hotel in a very busy, tourist location and this is our busiest time of the year. So the lobby was full of people and families when this guy went on his obscenity filled, verbal tirade. Thankfully, the company I work for cares a great deal about the safety and comfort of all its employees and guests. To that end, most members of management are allowed to invoke what we call the asshole tax. And, if that doesn't help, we're actually encouraged to eject persistently belligerent people from the hotel. With the help of police, if necessary.
Needless to say, I've never been more proud to work for someone in my life and, I absolutely LOVE my job. :)
