🌶 Lala Soup is something my family cooks often. Here’s a recipe inspired by our last trip to Lai Foong’s Lala new branch at Petaling Street, Kuala Lumpur’s Chinatown.

📱 ABOUT CLAM ‘LALA’ SOUP
This is a soup that my mother cooks at home often. Every time we get see fresh clams at the market, we will surely buy it. There are many ways to cook these clams e.g stir-fry ‘kam Cheong’ style with curry leaves for example. But our absolute favourite way is to make Superior Lala Soup.
This dish is popular at a local Malaysian-Chinese seafood restaurant. As it has alcohol, it’s not available everywhere.
'Lala' is the local name for Venus Clams (its scientific name is Paphia Textile). ‘Lala’ it’s also a derogatory term for young Asian girls who has a uncanny sense of style i.e unnatural hair colour.
