Hello and welcome to Old Ways Gardening and Prepping. πŸ€ Would like to welcome you each in to the kitchen with me this evening. Tonight we are going to be making a usnea salve. After making the beautiful infused oil it's time to make the salve with it.

So far to date there are 87 different forms of usnea growing around the world. Usnea is actually a lichen that grows on tree branches, bushes, upon rocks and can grow along creek banks worldwide. It goes by many names but it is most well known as old man's beard. Please don't get it confused with Spanish moss they are two completely different plants.

This small hairy lichen is a powerhouse healer, and unfortunately more people don't know about it. Well known as a broad-spectrum natural antibiotic. For this salve I am looking for all the external healing abilities of the usnea. It is a antimicrobial, antiviral, antifungal, antiseptic as well as antibacterial. Known to heal staph infections, gangrene, heal wounds, stop bleeding, fungal infections, rashes, bug bites, skin allergies and so many more ailments.

In this video I am making a triple batch. Below you will find the recipe for a single batch.

Usnea Salve

1 cup of usnea Infused oil
1 ounce natural beeswax
1/4 tsp of vitamin E oil

Hope this video encourages you to also try your hands at making your own usnea salve. If you have any questions please feel free to ask them in the comment section below I will answer them as soon as possible. Everyone take care and have a blessed day. β€οΈπŸ€πŸ¦‰
