I wanted to have a shorter track for my track saw for a long time. The chepest one available in Germany still costs 40€ plus shipping. So I made a track myself out of plywood and aluminium. I really screwed up the paint job and now it has this weird black white contrasting thing to it which one just can't look at without ones eyes hurting. It works perfectly but I'm still going to make a another one that will be nicer and won't have the edge banding on it which didn't help to make the saw glide better. What did work really well were these foam strips that have the double stick tape already on them. They provide a really grippy surface that will keep the track from sliding around on the workpiece.
