2 cans chili
1 & 2/3 cup cornmeal
2/3 cup all purpose flour
1 cup milk or cream
2 tablespoons butter (1 tbsp 4 baking dish & 1 tbsp 4 topping)
1 egg
Shredded cheese (if desired but not necessary)
Preheat oven 375
Start with one tablespoon of butter to rub inside the baking dish, set to the side on stove top. In a mixing bowl mix dry ingredients (flour & cornmeal) gradually, add 1 egg and milk and also one tablespoon of butter and mix ingredients set to the side. Using 2 DG chili in the can pour chili in the baking dish then a layer of shredded cheese as desired & then pour cornbread mixture over the cheese layer and sprinkle cheese on top of cornbread mix if desired.
Place the oven until cornbread is golden brown or until cornbread comes out clean on a tooth pick or butter knife in the center.
