What happens when you stop waiting for community and decide to create it?
In Providence, Rhode Island, I hosted the first Cocoa Connections gathering—a space created to connect Black creatives, local coffee shops, and people who believe in the power of encouragement, inspiration, and intentional community.
This episode of my Hallelujah Year begins with a rainy-day journaling session and a moment of reflection before I get ready for the event. What started as an idea became an afternoon filled with meaningful conversations, new connections, laughter, and the reminder that we do not have to navigate life’s detours alone.
You’ll hear from some of the guests about their experience, and we close the gathering with prayer and gratitude. At the end, “Future Tish” reflects on what Cocoa Connections has already done for me and why creating spaces like this matters.
