Creating my own spirits in Ultimate, from the world of MOTHER 3! While the most important characters are already official spirits (Lucas’s family, friends, and key enemies) there’s still plenty that’re absent- and in some cases surprisingly so. Where’s Porky, for example?

How am I making my own spirits? Just like the developers did- I’m imagining various NPCs and creatures in MOTHER 3 possessing similarly-attributed characters on the Smash roster, and channeling their unique abilities. As an example, Phrygia in MOTHER 3 has the quirk of always being asleep- so Jigglypuff is a natural host, because that Pokémon utilizes slumber attacks.
I was inspired by the creativity that comes with Spirits mode- it’s a great way to include characters that’ll never be recognized as fighters in Smash. There’s plenty to talk about too: how would a Li'l Miss Marshmallow or Miracle Fassad spirit be represented? Find out in the video, and let me know if you have any ideas of your own.
