Unlike any other instrument, synthesizers have the unique ability to take pretty much any sound and turn it into a musical note or sound. Originally sampling was the way this was done, revolutionizing synthesis when it was introduced. Granular synthesis and Wavetable synthesis can also work with existing sounds, transforming them into new, previously unheard-of aural atmospheres. In this video I record some sounds, then use sampling, granular synthesis and wavetable synthesis to turn those sounds into something completely new and different.
