Making scales is hard. You've got so many notes to work with! There's F, there's Ab, there's D#... it's overwhelming. Wouldn't it be nice if you could do the same thing but smaller? Well, let me introduce you to tetrachords, which are like half-scales that you can smash into another half-scales in order to make a whole scale. They've got quite the history: Even the Greeks used them, but they've still got a place in modern theory too.
