Hello everyone and welcome to a new video!

I found the perfect fabric for an impulse project so here we are! Last year, I made an 1890s walking skirt using the Keystone jacket and dress cutter, that I intended to use for historybounding mainly. Although I do like it, there are a few things about it that often deter me from wearing it. I didn't interline it, so the wool hangs a little sadly, and the hem doesn't have any reinforcement so it doesn't flare properly, overall giving a bit of a droopy silhouette. But once I had this wool and I found a new pattern, I was determined to make something that I would be thrilled to wear. And it worked!

As I mentioned, I used the 7 gore skirt draft from The American system of dressmaking (linked below) and I managed to squeeze it out of 2 meters of wool that I got discounted from my local fabric shop. I also interlined the skirt with tarlatan, using 2 meters, which I got discounted for £2.50 p/meter. The hem facing was leftover cotton from a different project. Overall, I think the skirt cost me about £35 to make, including notions, which for a 100% wool skirt, I don't find too bad! Hopefully I can get a lot of wear out of it! It was nice and warm when I wore it out, and also very comfortable to wear, as the tarlatan gave it enough structure to stand away from the legs. I can't wait to wear it once the leaves start turning more, for those pristine Autumn vibes
