Materials used:
2 yards 13 oz Wool Herringbone in grey/black variation from organiccottonplus.com
Buttons/Lining materials are from Jo-anns

59 Authentic Victorian Patterns (purchased on amazon)
a vintage issue of “The Lady” magazine from 1886

My dress form is from buystoreshelving.com
The pattern paper in this video is a roll of paper from the children’s section of ikea haha
the sleeve roll and tailors ham are dritz brand purchased from amazon.
Notes:
A more historically accurate way to stiffen the lapel and collar would be using hair canvas and stitching it in place with pad stitching. It makes the collar easier to form and more durable long term. Notes on that can be found in Authentic Victorian Dressmaking Techniques (as well as jacket fitting tips).
Also since someone always points it out - sewing over pins is bad! It’s a nasty habit I have and one I don’t work too hard to kick since it makes sewing so much faster. Personally i’ve only broken one or two needles that way in the entire time i’ve been sewing, so that isn’t a major concern of mine. But it isn’t something I would recommend doing!
As mentioned within this video the main fabric for this jacket was sent to me for review but all opinions are my own and I was not paid to promote the site or make this video!

Music is “Ballade no. 3 in A flat Major Op. 47” performed by Donald Betts and originally written by Frederic Chopin. It was acquired through Musopen and does not belong to me!
(speaking of music, sorry it's loud at the end! I originally uploaded it with the song at 1% and you couldn't hear it at all. 3% is apparently too loud. I'll try 2% for part two!)
