Cats Costumery | Making an 1860s Garibaldi blouse @CatsCostumery | Uploaded March 2020 | Updated October 2024, 2 hours ago.
Hello everyone and welcome to a new video!
In my previous video, I talked about how I was going to make some effort into making historically inspired pieces that I could integrate into my day-to-day wardrobe. Here is the first item I've made! This blouse was made using cotton ticking and the Truly Victorian Garibaldi blouse pattern.
The pattern was very easy to follow and the instructions were also very clear. I really love the outcome. I ended up keeping my mock-up too, which means I have a more modern-looking sleeveless top for the summer (I keep thinking it has some 1940s vibes when without the sleeves?!).
I haven't worn this blouse yet, as the weather has been a bit chilly still and I have basically been wearing four jumpers at the same time. However, I really like the look of it and it is very comfortable! In particular, I love the full sleeves which are set lower down than modern clothing, which I really like.
Next up, I've got two skirts and two more blouses in my to do list!
