Today I make a ring out of 904L Stainless Steel. This is the same metal alloy that Rolex (and other high-end brands) use to make their watches. It holds an incredibly high mirror polish and it is insanely impervious to corrosion including ocean water and even high strength acid. It has many benefits of a noble metal like gold, but it retains the high strength of steel, it's really a best of both worlds situation.
