Artisan Makes | Making a Machinist Hammer With Brass Face @artisanmakes | Uploaded January 2023 | Updated October 2024, 2 days ago.
G'day everyone,

In this video I will be making a machinist hammer to replace the old one I made a few years ago. These hammers are smaller than normal hammers and are great for tapping in parts on the lathe and mill. The old one was made in an afternoon from an offcut of brass and a piece of pine. It has served me well, but I want one that is a little heavier.

The replacement will be made from a few pieces of off cut steel which I will mill down in the milling machine and turn down on the lathe. I will also make heads from nylon and brass. I will also use the forge to melt down scrap brass and cast a billet of brass.

I hope you enjoy the video.
