G'day everyone,
I have some big wood working project coming up soon. I don't know if I will show them in the channel, but either way, I need some tools. Mainly a jack plane so smoothing down long cuts of wood.
I appreciate that jack planes are a common wood working tool, but at over $300 for a good one, it is far too expensive for me to invest in one, especially when it may only be used a few times a year.
So I decided to make one. I already made a small plane last year, which I use for chamfering, but this plane will be different. Larger, heavier and most importantly, it will have an adjustable throat which will allow me to hopefully reduce tear out.
Unlike the previous one, it will be made from bolted (the other one was riveted) pieces of flat bar, and not a solid casting (unlike a conventional plane).
