In this video I show the steps I used to make a ceramic ball mill for the pottery studio. The ball mill is used to grind glaze materials to a fine consistency.
Traditionally ball mills that are used on pottery wheels lay on their side and have a water tight lid. In an effort to avoid the need for a sealed lid, I designed a stand that supports the mill at an angle while it is powered by the pottery wheel.
I'm sure there are better ways to DIY this project, but part of the enjoyment I get from these builds is making it up as I go, and working with what I have access to. I need to make a lot more ceramic grinding balls, but otherwise, the design works as expected.
