This bud base should really be call Super Storm Sandy Vase.

It was made from a log I dried out from a tree that crashed into my yard during super storm Sandy. I don't know what type of wood it is, it does appear to be oak.

The finish I used is a combination of boiled linseed oil, shellac and denatured alcohol. I got this recipe from Captain Eddie Castelin.

I believe he calls it shine juice. You can find who the original creator is on his youTube channel.


There is a plastic tube in the vase which I did not film. The tube will protect the wood from water. Without the tube the vase could only be used for fake flowers.
