I first learned about foot vises from Andrew @blacksmithtools on Instagram. Then, I got to play with Jimmy DiResta's at his first blacksmithing class and I fell in love. From that moment, I knew I needed one.
Some technical stuff: I plan on making the dynamic jaw pivot. The angle in the slot on the static jaw clevis arms are intentional so that the dynamic jaw doesn’t slide up when there is pressure applied. I will eventually add leveling feet or bolt it down. I might even fill the dynamic jaw with sand to add weight and reduce ring.
