I have wanted to do a comparison of U.S and Australian makeup prices for so long! As you will see, there is a MASSIVE difference between the two.
To buy all of these 20 products in the U.S, it will cost $149.50 (USD).
In Australia, the 20 identical products will cost $424.78 (AUD).
That is a difference of $275.28!!!
The prices are shown in each country's dollar. So, U.S prices are in USD, and Australian prices are in AUD. I did this so that if you're from either country, you can think "yep, they cost this much here". Converting dollars would have gotten too confusing, but if you were wondering, the Australian Dollar is currently worth 78 cents U.S.
"Why is there such a price difference?"
» Importation costs: Australia is located at the bottom of the globe, and majority of our cosmetics are imported from other countries. This causes the cost to go up.
» Minimum wage: The minimum wage in Australia is $16.87, where as the U.S is $7.25.
» Cost of living: Australia's cost of living is much higher (because of higher wages, of course)
» Taxes: Australian prices account for GST (tax), where as U.S prices don't. I don't know much about the way tax works in the U.S, so I didn't discuss it.
» Currency conversion: The Australian Dollar is currently down.
