In a joint announcement today, MakerBot & Ulitmaker released that they were merging companies. This was a surprise to everyone, including employees at Ultimaker, the public, and everyone who thought MB was dead.
If it restores Thingiverse I can see that as a positive, but that's about it. MB is not known for the quality of their printers. Ulitmaker has a good following, but this merger threatens their Open Source cred and business in general.
