*UPDATE* Hey Guys, this is an old video, but I have been getting lots of new questions about the glue, so here's what I have to say. I made this video while learning the process, and based on conversations with the manufacturer I was sure this glue was going to be the hot ticket for glueing on leather without having to sew it on. Unfortunately, after testing it even more myself, I have had a hard time making it stick for any acceptable length of time and have abandoned it. I found that heating it hotter or longer, or doing multiple presses could help, but nothing really lived up to my expectations. So all I can really say is I am sorry for leading you astray.
I have switched to using "leatherette." It isn't quite as nice as leather, but it comes close and is really nice to work with. It doesn't give off the same smell as leather, and when you buy it with the heat-activated adhesive already built in, that stuff really really holds well. My first test hat with leatherette was intentionally over-abused, and the hat all but dissolved around the patch.
