In this video we connect a 1979 Sears Garage door opener to the Internet using a Shelly 1 Relay. It's a simple, enjoyable electronics project that did not take very long to complete. One criticism of this project might be that it requires a battery in the garage door opener. You could wire it in to the garage's wall switch and not even need the remote. However, this method does not involve modifying wiring, can be easily removed, and adds flexibility of placement anywhere within WiFi and radio range. The battery should last as long as it would if the remote was in a car before changing.
