In this video, Gavin Hoey takes a budget-friendly LED ring light (the kind popular with vloggers) and uses it to create some incredible studio portrait lighting! Forget the obvious uses; we’re getting creative with three stunning looks you can achieve with this affordable LED light.

Gavin starts by positioning the ring light against a white wall and placing his model, Chloe, directly underneath. This setup creates beautiful images with light that falls off quickly, and as Gavin shows, it’s even okay to put the ring light in the photo.

Next, Gavin turns the ring light into a striking background element. By hanging black fabric on the wall and placing the ring light behind the model, facing the camera, he achieves a dramatic rim-lit effect. Adding a second “fill light” and some smoke enhances the mood and mystery!

Finally, Gavin gets playful! Chloe uses the ring light as both a prop and a light. She holds it, moves it, and even wears it, adding a fun and dynamic element to the photo session.
