The Make A Wish Trailblaze Challenge is the ultimate when it come to South Carolina Day Hikes - Hiking 28 miles with 5,850 ft Elevation in ONE day!

The original SC Trailblaze Challenge began at Whitewater Falls and ended at Oconee State Park. Trailblaze 2.0 began at Lake Jocassee and ended at Table Rock state Park. This is the final hike in the Trailblaze Trilogy - hiking from Lake Jocassee to Upper Whitewater Falls, the parking lot where Traiblaze 1.0 began. This Trailblaze Challenge hike has 5,850 feet of elevation gain and to get the extra miles we do Heartbreak Ridge AGAIN! The morning starts at 4am with a chilly boat ride from Devil's Fork State Park on Lake Jocassee to our starting point on the Foothills Trail. One again we climbed Heartbreak Ridge in the dark!
Along the way we had aid stations with delicious food such as Uncrustables, mashed potatoes, turkey (sticks) and dressing, and pineapple quesadilla burgers!
This 28 Mile Hike benefits the Make A Wish Foundation in South Carolina. Each hiker raises over $2,500 to help kids with life threatening illness have a wish come true.
Make A Wish grants more than 15,000 wishes nationwide each year but that’s only 50% of the eligible kids. Each hour of each day, on average three kids are diagnosed with a critical illness. Each of these kids needs a wish to give them strength and help them heal. These wishes can bring true happiness, relief and renewal to the kids and their families.

Make A Wish South Carolina has hikes in the Spring of 2024! These hikes are on the Palmetto Trail! You can choose an Upstate Hike that starts at Sassafras Mountain, a Midlands Hike or even a Coastal Hike that hikes along the Awendaw Passage.
