I had recently raised this area of the yard about 18 inches with recycled fines, adding new irrigation, drainage as well as a desire for a much better setup for the whole pool pump/salt/filter combo. All of the staging was done remotely to calculate the pipe placement and the new England sandstone pavers were cut around the finalized installed pipes. The DE filter will not be replaced in this setup. Multiple grades need to converge in this area, and the pool area of this paver patio needs to be level.
One by one starting with the filter and salt chlorinate, the items were staged over the pipes until the desired position was achieved to the underground pipes. The chlorination was essentially a new install keeping in mind considerations for its location in circuit for adequate flow. All 90 degree fittings used the rounded pool sweep couplers for better flow. Fittings were glued in in order to allow for adjustment where needed as there is only one chance without reworking. Connections that are threaded and not glued use liquid PTFE sealant.
With the filter in place the pump preparation was next. this started with the other side of the filters threaded fitting. The pump is then staged in place. all of the pipes are measured and remeasured and cut into place for height and angle. I did find my ground came out of the pavers in the wrong location, so I had to stop and relocate it along with the specially cut paver. Upon pump installation, the next cut and measurements after the pump is installed is the output of the pump to the filter.
Finally, the waste drain value is installed on the pump output and makes its way to the underground drain project. redirecting the pimp to the drain instead of the filter. That ended the pvc work.
Next the flow switch is re-introduced for the salt clorinator, Using a bit of PTFE. Then the ground is connected to the pump, followed by main power to the pump.
The filter is opened for inspection, not much to it. but its ready to go so I close it back up. I then screw in the pressure valve onto the top of the canister. An inspection is conducted, and then power is reapplied. Significant priming is expected. I shut down actually to pre-load the system with water from the hose. After priming was completed and the system normalized, inspection was checked for leaks and none were found, no bubbles in the jets either. Finally, 800g sand paper was used to clean up some of the mess I left on the PVC. and that concludes this portion of the project.
