I will tell you everything we know so far about the newly Discovered Tomb of Ptah-M-Wiah, the head of the treasury and high-ranking official during the reign of King Ramses II who was the third Pharaoh of the 19th Dynasty.
The 19th Dynasty lasted a little over a century from 1292 to 1189 BCE.
At the Saqqara Necropolis in the Giza Governorate we know that there are many discoveries to be made in the future, as excavations have been carried out there for quite a while and will be carried out for a very long time to come.
The discovery of this tomb is quite significant because of the high rank Ptah-M-Wiah had in the Cabinet of Ramses II who reigned from 1279 until 1213 BCE.
Another reason for its significance is the unique area in which the tomb was found, the Tomb of Horemheb (the famed military leader who became pharaoh and was the last Pharaoh of the 18th dynasty) was discovered buried nearby, among a number of other important military leaders, statesmen and nobles that date from Ramses II’s reign.
Of course the dig was overseen by the Secretary General of Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities Dr. Mostafa Waziri, who explained the high rank status of Ptah-M-Wiah.
